The New York Times recently reported a new trend popping up in New York City that starts with a question sounding much like a riddle: Where does a billionaire build a single family mansion in the middle of New York City? The answer for billionaire Steven A. Cohen, and a growing number of New York’s wealthiest, lies in conversion. While Cohen’s mansion will only be 12,000 square feet, a parking garage on the corner of Perry and Greenwich Streets could be razed to become the largest single-family home in New York City, at 40,000 square feet.
