First, Real Estate Weekly reported that a for many years past, developing Asian cities had looked to more established western cities like New York for guidance on skyscraper and city skyline aesthetics. But large, recent developments such as Hudson Yards and the World Trade Center, have taken cues from Asian designs, according to one architecture professor. The next day, it was announced by CNN Money that the latest acquisition for Chinese developer Greenland Group was a massive 70% stake in the Atlantic Yards, surrounding the new Barclay’s Center. We are particularly curious whether the nationality of the new owner will influence the appearance of a Brooklyn skyline that has already started to adopt elements of Asian cities.
