While many rejoice at the return of NFL season, others look upon the next two months with apprehension – the dreaded hurricane season is upon us. While football fans across America are picking their fantasy drafts, many business owners and residents in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn will soon be forced to contemplate just how another Sandy might affect their lives and their city, and lawmakers and public officials may again be forced to face the staggering costs to the city. Atlantic hurricane season is defined as June 1st to November 30th, though hurricane activity is highest around late August and early September.
